HOW - GENERAL PLANNING FOR THE COMPLEX RENOVATION OF SIX RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS IN BERLIN

As part of the complex renovation of several residential buildings for Berlin-based HOWOGE
Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH has undertaken extensive renovation and renewal measures. In addition to the thorough renovation of the residential buildings and apartments, the focus is on maintaining and adapting the buildings in the surrounding area. Special requirements for environmental protection and the maintenance of apartments and rental space in the buildings are being implemented. Where approval is possible, new living space will be created by adding floors (vertical and horizontal).


In one of the properties, the attic is to be converted into residential use.
Sealing and insulation of the attics were carried out.
The facades were renovated and thermal insulation systems were installed, new windows were installed and staircases and entrance areas were extensively repaired.
The insulation of the basement ceilings and the installation or retrofitting of burglar-proof apartment doors were also part of the projects. Several of these measures were carried out in accordance with the current EnEV 2014 and using valid KfW funding programs.

The bathrooms have been modernized and the kitchen areas renovated.
Some of the heating and hot water supply systems were replaced.

Ventilation concepts according to DIN 1946-6.2009 were created after testing. All existing drinking water, cold water and hot water circulation pipes as well as the waste and rainwater pipes are being replaced. The electrical systems were also replaced in accordance with the current VDE guidelines.
