LIB - RESEARCH CENTER FOR CONTAGIOUS AFRICAN DISEASES IN TRIPOLI, LIBYA

The laboratory building was constructed for the purpose of researching and treating tropical diseases. Located near Libya's capital Tripoli, a plot of land measuring approx. 150 m x 150 m was available for the construction of the research centre.

The research building was planned in the centre of the construction area and oriented in a north-south direction. This means that access to the building is from the east, the utility rooms (laboratories, offices) are orientated to the east and west, the building is free of glass surfaces and windows to the south and ends with the staircase.

When creating the concept and design of the laboratory building, all factors relating to utilisation, structural implementation, building structure and appearance were taken into account and linked together with the greatest possible efficiency.  The building with the required utilisation areas - laboratories for routine analysis / public areas and laboratories with increased security levels S3 / S4 - complies with functional considerations and the legal regulations for laboratories with increased security requirements.
