WM1 - RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS
"AM BRAUHAUSBERG" IN POTSDAM

In the first construction phase, six 4-storey townhouses with basements (buildings 1 to 6) were to be built with a total of 107 flats (1-room to 4-room) in the price-controlled rental segment and two rental units for non-disturbing commercial use. In addition, an underground car park with 57 car and 4 motorbike parking spaces was to be planned.
The aim was to provide attractive and affordable living space for future middle-class tenants. The commercial space was to be planned as a refined shell construction.

The six buildings are arranged around two neighbourhood squares, which are directly connected to the museum forecourt via a central access axis. Playground areas for families are located in the southern part of the site. There are green and planted areas between the buildings. When selecting the plants, future climatic developments were already taken into account and, for example, plants were chosen that are better able to cope with long periods of drought. The preservation and improvement of local biodiversity was also taken into account with flowering shrubs with an affinity for insects.
